The Capstone announces the launch of its spring 2018 season, which runs from late January to May 2018, and promises an eclectic range of artistic delights with a particular focus on contemporary music, jazz, world music and contemporary dance.
The season boasts two festivals, the sixth incarnation of Liverpool International Jazz Festival (22nd - 25th Feb) and the annual Cornerstone Arts Festival, a multi-arts festival (3rd - 10th March). In addition, there is a scattering of performances from Capstone regulars Milapfest, Liverpool Mozart Orchestra, Merseyside Improvisers Orchestra and others.
Some early season highlights include concerts by James Taylor Quartet, Get The Blessing, Jason Rebello, Arun Ghosh and Soft Machine (all performing as part of Liverpool International Jazz Festival).
Other performances this season include Tooth + Nail Theatre Company, The Katona Twins, Lizzie Nunnery and a Sky One Brexit commission by writer John Godber (all as part of The Cornerstone Arts Festival).
Later in spring audiences are treated to a concert by Australian musical improv trio The Necks (20th March) as part of a 3-day series focusing on musical improvisation, contemporary dance from Sweetshop Revolution (22nd March) and The New Zealand Dance Company (17th April) and music from seasoned American singer songwriters Tom Paxton (13th April) and Dean Friedman (5th May).

Since opening its doors in March 2010, The Capstone Theatre, Liverpool's International Arts Venue, has staged concerts and performances by leading national and international musicians and artists including Courtney Pine, Kathryn Tickell, Neil Cowley Trio, and The Smith Quartet alongside concerts by some of the best local musicians, spoken word events (Roger McGough), radio broadcasts (BBC Radio 4's Any Questions?), plays, dance performances and film screenings. Along with a series of performances organised by partners Milapfest, student performances and presentations and spoken word events and lectures, The Capstone is succeeding in providing a rich mix of cultural experiences very much taking a multi-arts and an international approach, bringing new experiences to Liverpool audiences. The Capstone is the home to the Liverpool International Jazz Festival.
