A large cast of BRIT School Actors and Musical Theatre performers take the Brighton stage from 20th-23rd May at Wagner Hall.
Supported by young technicians in training from the Technical Theatre Arts course, The BRIT School will premiere two original shows; Reality and The Circle Game. Reality, written by Radio 4's Georgia Fitch and directed by Sarah Bedi, centres around reality TV and Britain's appetite for quick and easy celebrity. Depicting some of the most troubling exploitation in the television industry, with reference to the work of notorious reality TV auteur Josh Harris, Reality tells the story of Darren - a young man desperate for fame.
Working with director Ed Burnside alongside musical directors David Randal and Steven Geraghty, The Circle Game will be performed by Musical Theatre students and is a new original musical. Following one boy's trials through childhood and adolescence towards adulthood, we follow the decisions and actions he takes through verbatim speeches, movement and contemporary music.
The Bridge Company are made up of recent graduates from The BRIT School who train for a year through professional experiences and skills to launch them into the theatre industry. The Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation has generously awarded The Bridge Company £194,175.00 over 3 years, to professionally train young people who might not otherwise be able to afford this specialist tuition.
The BRIT School provides a free education and vocational training for Performing Arts, Media, Art and Design and Technology for 14-19 year olds. Alumni include Adele, Kate Tempest, Jessie J, Cush Jumbo, Robert Emms, Rizzle Kicks and Katy B. Students are selected on aptitude and their commitment to the arts regardless of background, additional educational needs, diversity and income.
