The UK Premiere production of the hilarious new American musical comedy ‘Slay It With Music' takes place this summer. Produced by A STAGE KINDLY New Musical Theatre Initiative, the show runs from 19th July to 7th August at the Space in London's Docklands. Written by two acclaimed American writers, the show - about a diva's return to the silver screen - pays homage to some of the great moments from Hollywood's golden age with references to such film classics as "Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?".

A gory slasher movie is a curious choice of genre for a woman, previously acquitted of murder in dubious circumstances, in which to make a comeback!

"We are really excited about this high-jinks show which really celebrates how entertaining an art form Musical Comedy is" say Giles Howe and Katy Lipson, who are producing the show.
"We founded A STAGE KINDLY three years ago to support writers around the world independently involved in creating new musical theatre and have staged several new-writing revues and full-length shows" says Katy Lipson. "Previous productions have included musicals dramas such as Soviet Zion and Ballets Russes and more recently the UK Premiere of A Feast of Snacks - a unique collection of musical comedy shorts from America. There's already a real buzz about SLAY IT WITH MUSIC and we're all very excited about the premiere."

Slay It With Music, being presented in the UK for the very first time, is written by Michael Colby and Paul Katz. Michael was a head-writer for The New Amsterdam Theatre in New York. "For forty years my parents owned the famous Algonquin Hotel, the home away from home for many British theatre and movie greats. I'm really looking forward to coming to London for the UK Premiere of my musical."

The Space is a performing arts and community centre based in a converted church on the Isle of Dogs, East London. It has received critical acclaim for its productions of A Doll's House and The Graduate. It programmes over 200 events a year incorporating an exciting mixture of theatre, music, comedy and dance. Previously a chapel, the building near Canary Wharf and Mudchute in the Docklands has been turned into a beautiful theatre and arts venue, with its own bar and restaurant. The large high-ceilinged auditorium provides beautiful acoustics for the full-size grand piano.
Tickets at £13/£11 are available through the Space's Box Office Hotline on 020 7515 7799 or can be purchased online at www.space.org.uk.
