The Singing Hypnotist will change your life. He uses songs to heal, transform and put you under. It's a combination of clinical hypnotherapy, stage hypnosis, original music and good old fashioned showbiz, researched by Christopher Green as part of his work as the first Artist-in-Residence at the British Library, and supported by the Wellcome Trust.
This is part revivalist meeting and part medicine show. The Singing Hypnotist may be a showman, even a snake oil salesman, but his skills are based in the latest scientific research. How would it be if he really could help you let go of pain and painful habits? Who is to say that every word he sings isn't true? What if you're laughing too much to notice?
Christopher Green is a multi-award winning performer and writer who has appeared all over the world at venues including The Royal Albert Hall, The Sydney Opera House, Barbican & Southbank Centre. His characters include Radio Four's Tina C and rapping pensioner Ida Barr. He has also created experiential theatre work such as Office Party, VIP, The Razzle and This Show Has No Name, and co-wrote The Frozen Scream with one of the UK's best-selling novelists, Sarah Waters.
The British Library will publish Christopher Green's book on his research into the history of stage hypnotism in Autumn 2015.
