THE SILENT MOVIE EXPERIENCE is Coming to the Emporium and Leicester Square Theatre in September

Following his sell-out West End show in 2012 and his continued success at the Brighton Fringe 2013, David Watts Professor of Silent Movie Ethno Musicology (SMEMY) presents more silent movie mayhem!

His latest show includes the Charlie Chaplin short Behind The Screen made in 1916 featuring the first ever custard pie fight to be seen in a movie. David plays along with live music and sound effects and invites his audience to participate in this chaotic and unpredictable show. What was it like to go to the movies in the early 1900s? What was it like to be an actor in a silent movie? Is it safe to sit in the front row? This knowledgeable aficionado provides all the answers and presents comedy silent movies like you've never seen them before!

David works in many different areas of the music business including film, TV, Radio and Theatre. His credits include top brand TV commercials including Kelloggs and British Airways, three solo albums and Metropolis, A London Symphony available on Sanctuary Classics. He also worked for ten years as Assistant Musical Director for Andrew Lloyd Webber and played keyboards in numerous shows including Evita, Starlight Express, Cats and Phantom of the Opera.
