The original play that inspired the Academy Award-winning film The King's Speech, comes to the Lyceum Theatre from Monday 13 April to Saturday 18 April starring Jason Donovan as speech therapist Lionel Logue and Raymond Coulthard as King George VI.

As the world stands on the brink of war, King Edward VIII sparks controversy with his love for married socialite, Wallis Simpson. With Edward's position become increasingly untenable, his brother Bertie, who has previously shied away from the public eye because of a terrible stammer, is thrust in to the spotlight as his likely successor.

With the support of his wife Elizabeth (the much-loved future Queen Mother), Bertie meets maverick speech therapist and failed actor, Lionel Logue, at an office in Harley Street. Together they embark on an unlikely journey to prepare Bertie to lead his country as King George VI.

Returning to the Lyceum stage, Jason Donovan stars as maverick speech therapist Lionel Logue. After the phenomenal success of Australian soap Neighbours, Jason has gone on to sell over 3 million records in the UK and in more recent years, has appeared in hit stage production including Sweeney Todd, The Sound of Music, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Priscilla Queen of the Desert. He is joined by Raymond Couthard as King George VI. Raymond is best known as Miles Egerton in ITV's Mr Selfridge and his extensive theatre credits include roles for both the National Theatre and RSC.

The King's Speech is the true and heart-warming story of one man's struggle to overcome his personal affliction and, in his country's darkest hour, deliver the now iconic speech broadcast across the globe to inspire his people.

The King's Speech is on stage at the Lyceum Theatre from Monday 13 - Saturday 18 April. Tickets can be purchased from Sheffield Theatres' Box Office in-person, by phone on 0114 249 6000 or online at sheffieldtheatres.co.uk and are priced from £15.00 - £28.00 (a transaction fee of £1.50 (£1.00 online) applies to all bookings made at the Box Office, excluding cash), and discounts are available.
