Drama lovers are in for a particular treat with this season. Renowned and innovative company Out Of Joint will make their first visit to The Marlowe with their production of Andrea Dunbar's seminal 1980s play Rita, Sue And Bob Too (Wednesday 24 to Saturday 27 April).

For anyone who loved the novel of the same name, The Girl On The Train (Tuesday 20 to Saturday 24 August) will be a must see. This adaptation of Paula Hawkins' novel stars Samantha Womack, who is best known for playing Ronnie Mitchell in EastEnders, but also a familiar face to Marlowe audiences from her appearances in pantomime.

There'll also be a new adaptation of Mary Shelley's Gothic masterpiece, Frankenstein (Tuesday 24 to Saturday 28 September) by the brilliant writer Rona Munro, who was also responsible for the critically-acclaimed trilogy The James Plays.

Following massively successful runs at The Marlowe earlier this year with Macbeth and War Horse, the National Theatre return with A Taste Of Honey, Shelagh Delaney's career-defining depiction of working-class life in 1950's Salford. It tells the story of feisty teenager Jo and her feckless mother Helen. Jodie Prenger, previously seen at The Marlowe in Shirley Valentine, plays Helen, with further casting to be announced.

If all of that wasn't enough, there'll also be a season of three plays by the Royal Shakespeare Company (Wednesday 29 January to Saturday 8 February), direct from Stratford-upon-Avon. The three shows are, Measure For Measure, directed by RSC Artistic Director Gregory Doran, As You Like It, and The Taming Of The Shrew, directed by Justin Audibert, who also directed Beached, the first ever Made by The Marlowe home-grown production.

As well as drama, there's also plenty of other things, including two musicals direct from the West End: On Your Feet! (Monday 20 to Saturday 25 January) the story of Gloria and Emilio Estefan, told using their music, and Everybody's Talking About Jamie (Monday 23 to Saturday 28 March 2020), a West End smash hit with music from Dan Gillespie Sells, lead singer of The Feeling.

For dance fans, there'll be South African choreographer Dada Masilo's Giselle (Friday 1 & Saturday 2 November), which translates the classic story to a South African village, to tell it with a mixture of ballet, contemporary, and traditional African dance.

For classical music fans, there's a whole new season from The Marlowe's orchestra in residence, the Philharmonia. They'll once again be playing 6 concerts between October and May, including a Philharmonia At The Movies concert celebrating the music composed for the James Bond films.

And if what you need is a good laugh, there will also be stand-up from the likes of Josh Widdicombe (Monday 28 October), Henning Wehn (Thursday 21 November), Ben Elton (Wednesday 20 November) and Romesh Ranganathan (Tuesday 10 December).

All of these shows will be onsale to Marlowe Friends from Monday 25 March, and to the general public from Monday 8 April. Tickets can be booked online at marlowetheatre.com or by calling the Box Office on 01227 787787.
