Shoreditch Town Hall today announces the appointment of Stephen Robertson as Chair of Trustees. Robertson takes over the role with immediate effect.
Robertson has been CEO of the Big Issue Foundation since July 2007, and as well as senior roles across the third sector, also brings a range of experience from the worlds of commerce and retail.

Stephen Robertson said today, "I more than delighted to be joining the team. Shoreditch Town Hall's development over recent years from an emerging events venue into a buzzing, vital creative space on the London cultural map with an innovative, inclusive and distinctive arts programme has been hugely impressive. I very much look forward to working with Nick and his team and contributing towards the future direction and success of this landmark east London initiative."
Director of Shoreditch Town Hall, Nick Giles, said of his appointment, "I am thrilled that Stephen is joining us as Chair at this important stage of our development as an organisation and building and very much look forward to working together. His wide range of experience across the third sector and commerce bring a unique perspective and set of skills to the board at this crucial time as we look ahead to more than doubling our artistic work, establishing a main house music and comedy programme and delivering the next phase of building restoration and development."
Stephen Robertson has been CEO at the Big Issue Foundation since July 2007. His previous role was Director of Commercial Operations at Shelter, where he had responsibility for a chain of 100 charity Stores, a mail-order business and a Training business primarily focusing on Housing professionals. Stephen was a member of the Senior Management Team with cross organisational responsibility for the strategic management of the Charity. He was at Shelter for 13 years.
Robertson helped found and ultimately chaired the professional body that represents the majority of Charity Retailers in the UK, 'The Association of Charity Shops'. He is a Trustee of the homeless health care charity, London Pathway, a Trustee of TRAID - a charity committed to protecting the environment and reducing world poverty by recycling and campaigning at home.
