Urinetown - The Musical, by Mark Hollmann and Greg Kotis, satirises the legal system, capitalism, social irresponsibility, populism, bureaucracy, corporate mismanagement, municipal politics, and musical theatre itself. The show gleefully parodies musicals such as West Side Story, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, Three Penny Opera, Les Miserables and many more. Winner of three Tony Awards, Urinetown - The Musical is an earnest tale of love, greed, and revolution-an irreverently humorous satire in which no one is safe from scrutiny.
Side By Side Productions are proud to be the first amateur fringe company to perform a musical at the brand new Hope Mill Theatre with an all Manchester cast, led by Gabriel Walker as Bobby Strong and Esme Mather as Hope Cladwell.
The cast also features Steve Harrison, Hannah Davis, Gemma Sales, Mark Wood, Mal Wallace, John Mulholland, Colin Titley, Cassie Healey, Richard Ross, Julia Hart, Lucy Woods, Oli Pirk, Anthony Sales and Beth Relton.
Director Donna Metcalfe said "I am really looking forward to working with the theatre, the cast and crew to bring Urinetown The Musical to Manchester. The reaction the show gets is like something I've never witnessed before - it is one not to be missed! I am delighted Side By Side Production's next venture is being held at Manchester's brand new fringe venue! - Hope Mill Theatre."
