Tonight, 25 May, Sheffield Theatres are holding Sheffield Sizzler, a special evening of free entertainment featuring performances from local acts in and around its venues.

Following in the success of last year’s event, Sheffield Sizzler will begin at 5:30pm on tonight 25 May and will take place in each of the spaces at the venue – the Crucible, the Lyceum and Crucible Corner, as well as on Tudor Square.

The confirmed artist line up for this year's Sizzler includes an eclectic mix of dance, drama, music and comedy performances. Acts include Sue Bullivant, a drama graduate who will perform a selection of contemporary songs; The Yorkshire Tea Bags, an over 60's skiffle band and Peter Antoniou, a cabaret mind reader. Also, returning for the second year are local band Screaming Maldini, who proved to be a popular act with last year's audience with their quirky mix of Abba and Radiohead influenced music.

Sheffield Theatre’s Creative Producer Andrew Loretto said ‘The Sheffield Sizzler is very important to Sheffield Theatres as it creates an opportunity to open up our spaces to diverse local artists. We’re keen to play our part in promoting the grassroots arts and cultural scene that Sheffield is renowned for. The Sheffield Sizzler offers a platform for local talent to showcase their skills to new audiences and provides an exciting addition to our summer line-up.’

On the evening of the Sizzler, audiences can also buy tickets to see Betrayal with John Simm, Ruth Gemmell and Colin Tierney on the Crucible stage, LeanerFasterStronger, a new play by award-winning Kaite O’Reilly in the Studio Theatre and Breakin' Convention, the critically acclaimed international festival of hip hop dance theatre in the Lyceum Theatre.
