After premiering at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2015, the first tour of Shakespeare Untold opens at Watford Palace Theatre to coincide with April's Shakespeare 400 celebrations, and closes at Wilton's Music Hall in London with a summer half term run.
The Untold shows are stories you know from characters you don't, bringing Shakespeare's plays to family audiences in an accessible way - seamlessly blending modern language with the original text. The series has been developed by the award-winning team at Globe Education, who have been recognised in the Family Arts Festival Awards for their previous production Muse of Fire, and is touring through a partnership with award-winning commercial producers Seabright Productions.
In Romeo Untold, the story of Shakespeare's star-crossed lovers Romeo and Juliet is retold through the eyes of the Capulet Ball's party planner. Sally Lofthouse stars as the Party Planner; her credits include Muse of Fire at Shakespeare's Globe and a nomination as Best Actress for her performance as Augusta Byron at a Dublin theatre festival.
Titus Untold presents Shakespeare's goriest tragedy, Titus Andronicus, as seen from the kitchen of Titus' piemaker, played by Tom Giles. As well as appearing in Muse of Fire, Tom's recent credits include Merlin directed by Liam Steel at Northampton, and The Tempest directed by Adrian Noble at Theatre Royal Bath.
Founded by the pioneering American actor and director Sam Wanamaker, Shakespeare's Globe is a unique international resource dedicated to the exploration of Shakespeare's work and the playhouse for which he wrote, through the connected means of performance and education. Globe Education is one of the largest arts education departments in the UK. Each year, more than 120,000 people of all ages and nationalities participate in Globe Education's programme of public events, workshops and courses.
