NUNS will be on the run in London this September to help grant wishes for children with life threatening illnesses.

As Sister Act the musical embarks on its UK and Ireland tour, City of London Round Table is helping to organise the production's annual charity run. Money raised will support its affiliated charity Round Table Children's Wish.

Martyn Hooton of Round Table said: "The Nun Run has become a key feature of the London events diary and, having taken part in previous years, we are delighted to be safeguarding its future by working with Stage Entertainment and 2:09 Events to organise the event. On September 11 more than 1,000 people dressed in nuns' habits will take to the streets of London. Money raised during the four mile run will create some very special memories for poorly children and their families."

The Sister Act Nun Run starts at 10am at Tower Bridge and follows a route along the Thames past the Tower of London, Tower Bridge, South Bank, London Bridge, Southwark Bridge, Globe Theatre, Tate Modern, Blackfriers Bridge and Thames Path.

Entry is just £25 and includes your nun costume - At least £6 from each entry will go to Round Table Children's Wish. Runners who enter by the end of June will be entered into a prize draw to win one of 100 pairs of tickets to Sister Act The Musical.

Bill Taylor, of Stage Entertainment (the company behind Sister Act), said: "The Nun Run is a fantastic Sister Act legacy, which has raised tens of thousands of pounds for charity. The event perfectly reflects the upbeat and funny nature of the show and it's wonderful that such a special children's charity will be the beneficiary this year."

Sister Act is now open on Broadway and the UK and Ireland tour starts on September 29 at the Manchester Opera House.

Round Table Children's Wish grants wishes for children aged four to 17 with life-threatening illnesses. They include meeting with sporting or pop heroes, swimming with dolphins, family holidays and special gifts.

The Nun Run is launched in partnership with 2:09 Events.
