UK premiere of Rob Rokicki's Monstersongs at The Other Palace, Studio, 5th and 6th Nov 2018.
Something Wicked This Way Rocks!
Monstersongs is a unique theatrical event that "roars with originality... a chillingly inventive musical experience." (Tori Hartshorn, BroadwayWorld) Monstersongs puts audiences in a synthesized world of graphic novels, rock musicals, live performance, and new technology. A portal into the psyches of often misunderstood creatures; Monstersongs flips the switch on the monster narrative, inviting audiences to explore the humanity that binds us all.
Written by Rob Rokicki, the composer of the critically acclaimed Drama Desk and Lortel Nominated, The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical (book Joe Tracz), and developed in conjunction with award-winning illustrator David O'Neill, Monstersongs has a beautiful graphic novel and projections of the artwork enhance the audience's experience.
The world premiere recording of Monstersongs was released by Broadway Records and features a scary amount of Broadway talent including Megan Hilty (Smash), Jelani Alladin (Frozen), & Julia Murney (Wicked). The songs range in a variety of styles for each monster. Scary, silly, and heartfelt, Monstersongs promises to be an innovative, immersive event. It is an official selection of the National Alliance of Musical Theatre's 30th Annual Festival of New Musicals in New York.
The London cast includes George Damms (We Live By The Sea, Patch of Blue Theatre), Amanda Flynn (Wicked, LA Company) Tyrone Huntley (Jesus Christ Superstar, Regents Park Open Air Theatre), Cleopatra Higgins (Thriller Live, Lyric Theatre, BBC's 'The Voice UK'), Bradley Riches (Disaster!, Charring Cross Theatre), and Sinéad Wall (Paper Hearts, Upstairs at the Gatehouse).
Monstersongs is directed by Ryan Watson and produced by Denise Koch. The concert will feature a 5 min long Virtual Reality experience of the song FOOTPRINTS from Monstersongs.
