The world première of Love Your Soldiers - a moving and thought-provoking new drama by Robin Hooper - takes to the Studio Theatre stage from Thursday 31 October - Sat 23 November, directed by Sheffield Theatres' Associate Director Richard Wilson.
Set between the battlefields of Afghanistan and Hackney in North London, Love Your Soldiers is a contemporary love story that explores the burdens of lies and loss carried by two soldiers on the front line in Afghanistan and the girlfriend they left behind in the UK.
Multi award-winning actor and Associate Director at Sheffield Theatres, Richard Wilson (Lungs, That Face, The Pride) directs an exciting young cast to bring this brand new play to life, written by Robin Hooper (The Office, Twenty Twelve and Mrs Biggs).
Charlotte Beaumont (Playhouse Creatures, Broadchurch, Skins, Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll) plays Gemma, the London-based girlfriend.Chris Leask (Breathless, Phoneshop and Frankie) plays Ken, boyfriend to Gemma, who is based in Afghanistan. Chris recently graduated from The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts, and this marks his professional stage debut. Jordan Bright, also appearing in his professional debut, plays Roly, best friend to Ken. Nabil Elouahabi (The Great Game, East is East, Top Boy, Zero Dark Thirty) plays Rashid/Atash, Chris Reilly plays Cullen/Brenton (Let The Right One In, Game of Thrones,) and Farshid Rokey plays Hakim/Babur (Star Crossed, The Kite Runner).
Returning to Sheffield Theatres alongside Richard Wilson are Designer James Cotterill and Lighting Designer Johanna Town, both of whom worked on last year's production of Straight. Sound Designer and Composer George Dennis, Video Designer Tim Reid (The History Boys) and Movement Director Lucy Hind (This Is My Family) complete the creative team.
