The hugely energetic production has been heralded as a "revolutionary and ambitious production of Much Ado (which) shows regional professional theatre at its very best" by national industry newspaper The Stage.
Set within the ranks of today's British Army, the play sees our troops returning home to Messina-Upon-Thames following the war in Afghanistan. Beatrice, a feisty female officer, has been left at home, denied the opportunity to fight close combat in the infantry by the army policy that, in the real world, is set to be reviewed in a matter of months.
The company, who have received two invitations to perform this show in the West End, say that it's their aim to make theatre that is exciting and accessible to people of all ages and backgrounds. With music from emerging prodigy DJ Benjamin Hudson, the production appeals to even the most diehard anti-Shakespeareans.
RBL, along with their stellar production team, including director, Hal Chambers (5 stars, The Times), casting director, Matthew Dewsbury (RSC Casting Assistant), designer, Zoe Squire (Lyric Hammersmith, York Theatre Royal), Lighting designer, Oliver Welsh (London Olympics, No. 1 tours) and choreographer, Sammy Fonfe (West End), are at Greenwich Theatre on Friday 27th February (7.30pm) and Saturday 28th February (2.30pm and 7.30pm).
