Graduate students of Rambert School's BA in Ballet & Contemporary Dance will be performing at The Point, Eastleigh, for the first time ever on the evening of Friday 29 June.
The mixed-programme will include Mark Baldwin OBE's (previously Artistic Director of Rambert dance company) delightful Appalachian Spring and newly commissioned works by guest choreographers:
Slonimsky's Earbox by Ashley Page OBE (former Principal with the Royal Ballet and Artistic Director of Scottish Ballet, who has created works for the Royal Ballet, Warsaw Ballet, Royal Ballet of Flanders, Glyndebourne Opera and Rambert dance company)
Waiting by Wayne Parsons (an award-winning choreographer who creates narrative driven dance-theatre works that aims to push the boundaries of the genre.)
You, me, best friends, internet, future lover, dance by Theo Clinkard (alumnus of the School, choreographer, movement director and performer, who has worked with companies including Wayne McGregor / Random Dance, Siobhan Davies Dance, Sydney Dance Company, English National Opera and Matthew Bourne and is founder/artistic director of Theo Clinkard Company.)
A selection of original student choreography and classical rep will also be performed.
On Saturday 30 June, a group of Rambert School students will lead a fast-paced professional masterclass, giving participants an insight into what it's like to train at a world-leading conservatoire. The masterclass is open to members of the public and is suitable for young people aged 13+ interested in a career in dance.
Rambert School and The Point enjoy an ongoing collaborative relationship. Students from The Point's varied training schemes, including the Hampshire Youth Dance Company, have gone on to full-time training at Rambert School, with alumni of The Point currently in the first and second year of the Schools degree programme. There will be an exchange between students of Rambert School's Pre-Vocational Course and The Point Training Scheme this autumn. This September, artists of GradLab, The Point's graduate training scheme for young choreographers, will perform at Rambert School.
