Three popular Manchester Fringe companies who bring a unique voice to Manchester’s gay community are teaming up for an exciting new project. Queer as Fringe will bring together the award nominated Vertigo Theatre Productions, the critically acclaimed Dream Avenue Productions and the highly celebrated and innovative Pink Triangle Theatre.

Queer as Fringe will celebrate gay writing in the form of six 15-minute plays (two from each company) that cover romance, drama and outrageous comedy. With the city having such a vibrant gay community and more and more gay fringe writers emerging on the scene, Queer as Fringe is the perfect way to sample some of the best in one exciting night.

The idea is to expand the event yearly, introducing more venues, more writers and more company’s and really showcase what Manchester has to offer when it comes to gay theatre. This year writers include Craig Hepworth, Lloyd Eyre Morgan, Paul J Burgees, Adele Stanhope and Stuart Crowther amongst others: a diverse group of writers that is sure to make for a very entertaining evening.

On his idea to launch Queer as Fringe, Lloyd Eyre Morgan said: "I wanted to bring together Manchester best gay fringe company's and as a team create a diverse unforgettable night of theatre"

Each company has revealed their shows that will be a part of Queer as Fringe: Lloyd Eyre Morgan of Dream Avenue will bring his play's Heart Shaped Craving and The Dark Side of the Rainbow to the event, Craig Hepworth from Vertigo will be presenting the drama Numb and also from Vertigo will be Adele Stanhope's Faded Ink. From Pink Triangle will come the two plays Going Down and an excerpt from their hit show Show One.

Queer as Fringe promises to be an exciting new addition to the wonderful fringe scene here in Manchester. Tickets are now on sale via Quaytickets, but book fast as tickets are expected to go quickly.
