Celebrations are in full flow for the Queen's Theatre Hornchurch following the news that its recent autumn season smashed box office records at the theatre.

This was Artistic Director Douglas Rintoul's first season at the Queen's Theatre and his decision to herald a new era of creative collaborations with some of the best theatre companies in the UK has paid off.

All three in-house productions received critical acclaim from press and audiences members. The season consisted of the smash-hit musical Made in Dagenham, followed by Bob Larbey's comedy A Month of Sundays and Agatha Christie's Partners in Crime, a Tommy and Tuppence thriller.

The success didn't stop there as ticket sales for the theatre's pantomime Cinderella sky rocketed and smashed past the half a million pound barrier; a first for any panto in the Queen's Theatre's history. It received five-star reviews from the Romford Recorder, Netmums and London Theatre 1 which said, 'A new standard has been set this year... absorbing and enjoyable from start to finish.'

Artistic Director Douglas Rintoul expects this year's spring season to be an even bigger triumph with some exciting co-productions with Selladoor Productions, Les Théâtres de la Ville de Luxembourg, Salisbury Playhouse and New Wolsey Theatre Ipswich in the pipeline. He said, 'I'm hugely excited about our next season. Building on the huge success of last year, this coming season is our most ambitious yet. It's a season of big emotions - big plays with tonnes of laughter, tears and a little bit of terror!'

Audiences can see TV stars Charlie Condou (Coronation Street) and Victoria Yeates (Call The Midwife) in Arthur Miller's The Crucible (17 Feb - 11 Mar), then laugh-out-loud at the raucous comedy drama Worst Wedding Ever (15 Mar - 1 Apr) and finally feel inspired after watching Willy Russell's timeless classic Educating Rita (22 Apr - 13 May).
