This winter Punchdrunk Enrichment will transform Discover's basement into a magical frozen forest. Children and their families will explore the wonder of winter in an immersive storytelling adventure.
Two forest dwellers will invite children to join them in a warm and welcoming cottage, as they prepare for winter; but unfortunately they've mislaid a very important key. Audiences will be asked to wrap up warm and take a journey through a secret forest to discover the clues to find the missing key.
Following the huge success of Punchdrunk's The Crash of the Elysium and Punchdrunk Enrichment's excellent work for schools including Under the Eiderdown, Grey's Printing Press and Up Up and Away, The House Where Winter Lives will offer an unforgettable experience for the very young.
Sally Goldsworthy, Discover's Chief Executive, said; 'We are delighted to welcome Punchdrunk Enrichment to Discover, to create a fantastic immersive experience for very young children and their families.'
Punchdrunk Enrichment creates unique and extraordinary experiences for children, schools and community groups. Led by Pete Higgin, one of Punchdrunk's founding members, Enrichment was formed in 2008 to build on the participatory work of the company. Since then they've created work in schools, parks, gardens, markets, theatres, a disused shop and underground tunnels. This includes;Under the Eiderdown (a bric a brac shop that magically appears in schools to inspire creative writing and raise standards in literacy),The Uncommercial Traveller (a collaboration with the Arcola Theatre's over 50s theatre group to explore local history in relation to the writings of Dickens), Grey's Printing Press (a mysterious printing press that inspires school children to write stories) and Up Up and Away (a storytelling project about the last of the story balloonists).
Pete Higgin, Enrichment Director at Punchdrunk, said: 'Discover is an amazing place for families and young children to be inspired by storytelling. Their dedication to interactive playing and learning fits in perfectly with our work at Punchdrunk Enrichment and we're extremely excited to be working with them. '
