Following their productions of A Midsummer Night's Dream and The Merchant of Venice, all-male touring company Propeller return to the Rose Theatre Kingston with Henry V and The Winter's Tale from Tuesday 20 – Saturday 24 April 2012.
Led by Director Edward Hall, Propeller engages its audience's imagination and brings fresh understanding to classic plays.
Henry V is described as "a thrilling and deeply moving production set in the here and now, telling the tale of the greatest warrior in English folklore. In an evening of unforgettable power, from the corridors of Westminster to the fields of battle, Propeller brings its own unique take on one of Shakespeare's most famous plays."
A tragic fairytale, The Winter's Tale "tells a mysterious and extraordinary story of a man consumed by an inexplicable jealousy that destroys his family, his kingdom and himself. Moving from modern Sicilia to pastoral Bohemia, this is the greatest playwright writing at the height of his powers."
In January 2010, Artistic Director of Propeller Theatre Company, Edward Hall was made Artistic Director of Hampstead Theatre. He is also an associate director at The National Theatre, the Old Vic and the Watermill Theatre. Designer, Michael Pavelka is one of the founder members of Propeller and designed all but one of their productions, and won the TMA's Best Set Design 2009 for Propeller's The Merchant of Venice.
