The Young Arts Showcase aims to bring together an evening of performances showcasing local youth talent as it returns to the stage for another year.
Prime Theatre, with the support of Friends of the Swindon Arts Centre, are organising the event and are beginning their search for young people with artistic talent. The event, taking place at the Swindon Arts Centre on Friday 4th November at 7:30pm, hopes to bring together as many different art forms as possible on one stage.
Last year's showcase included some brilliant acts such as:
Red Oaks Primary School's British Sign Language choir
16-year-old Emily-Jane Sheppard, a solo guitarist and singer
Swindon Young Musicians Guitar Duo, Sam James and Tom Absolom
Visual art provided by students of The Commonweal School
We are looking for young people who wouldn't necessarily have the opportunity to perform at a professional venue; a brilliant chance to show the community what you do. Either groups or individuals able to produce pieces of work from any art form, with performance slots of up to 15 minutes. This includes anything: dance, drama, song, music, spoken word, short films. New work does not need to be created especially for this event: you may present performances from a current repertoire.
Tia Manning, Young Producer at Prime Theatre said, 'I'm really excited to be able to bring back the Young Arts Showcase. Last year's showcase was amazing but this year we want to see if we can squeeze in even more art forms and young artists and allow them to display their talents to Swindon.'
Carli Green, Young Artist at Prime Theatre, 'I believe it's so important that Swindon appreciates its youth and celebrates the great standard of artistic work they can produce. That's exactly what this evening is about.'
With a limited number of slots available, we hope to curate an event that includes as many art forms as possible. If you are interested in taking part or have any questions about the opportunity, please get touch by calling Prime Theatre's office on 01793 614864 or emailing Tia Manning, Young Producer at tia@primetheatre.co.uk. Prime Theatre will be confirming a program of performers towards the end of November. For more information about Prime Theatre, visit our website at www.primetheatre.co.uk.

Friend of the Swindon Arts Centre (FoSAC) has, since its conception, been supporting The Arts Centre in a number of various ways. Most recently, with the transfer of the centre management to HQ Theatres our role has changed to concentrate on the promotion of the use of the building for ever more varied events, particularly in support of younger people. We welcome any new members with a similar vision for the venue to join us.
