Present Theatre presents Dominic Taylor's new play, STOP SEARCH, from tonight, April 27 till May 26 at the Catford Broadway Theatre. The show is directed by Thierry Harcourt and designed by Libby Watson with lighting by Andrew May and Consultant Paule Constable. The score was written by Daniel Adeyemi and Jermaine Opara.
STOP SEARCH looks at the impact of police powers on two families thrown together one night. Callie is 13 years old and goes missing one night. His parents, both successful professionals, have little understanding of his life outside the family home and the drama young people must play out in the public space.
Stop Search is Dominic Taylor’s second play. He trained as an actor before becoming a Senior Prison Officer in HMP Brixton for four years. During this period, he devised a communication technique for reducing stress and conflict between staff and prisoners, which is now used in prisons around England. His acting credits include for television, East Enders, Doctors, London’s Burning, Coupling, Family Affairs and Lovejoy. He is currently playing Commander Harbison in South Pacific (Barbican and Tour). Other theatre credits include Jesus Hopped the A Train (Trafalgar Studios) and Stephen Daldry’s production of An Inspector Calls.
The cast includes Alek Aleksiev (Jan), Jelissa Campbell (Allana), Renee Castle (Dianne), Caroline Guthrie (Anne), Valentine Hanson (Ivan), Jerome Holder (Callie), Jack Shalloo (Greg) and Ray Mccallan (Mick).
