Rudyard Kipling's timeless tale of a boy lost in the jungle and taken in by wolves has opened at Greenwich Theatre in a stage adaptation by Tracey Power.
Directed by James Haddrell and with set and costume designs by Cleo Pettitt, the show marks the start of a new annual family programming initiative at the South London venue.
"With tickets selling as well as they are" said director Haddrell, "I think this will definitely become an annual project. We already present one of the UK's best-regarded traditional, celebrity-free pantomimes, alongside a year-round programme of touring family shows. The addition of a home-grown summer show is the logical next step and I hope this will become an annual tradition for our young audiences in the same way the pantomime has."
The Jungle Book runs at Greenwich Theatre until 26 August before transferring to Stantonbury Theatre, Milton Keynes, from 28 August-1 September.
The cast includes Joseph Black, Antonia Elson, David Hubball, Serin Ibrahim and Kandaka Moore.
