Written by emerging writer Paul Westwood and produced by JIH in association with Greenwich Theatre, the taught new thriller Skin In The Game opens the door on an inner-city Birmingham family in turmoil. With Dad in a care home, estranged siblings Danny, Michelle and Jamie struggle to pay the bills, or even have a conversation, made worse by the fact that the family flat isn't selling - but for this urban family nothing is quite as it seems. Lifting the lid on gambling addiction and living on the edges of society, Skin in the Game confronts what happens when you lie to those who know you best.
Having completed a run at the Blue Orange Theatre as part of Birmingham Fest, at which it picked up the festival's Best Performance award, Skin In The Game transfers to the Old Red Lion Theatre in Islington from 20 August-14 September.
The cast of Skin In The Game includes Charlie Allen (National Theatre's Home, I'm Darling - West End and Tour), Kathryn O'Reilly (Out Of Joint's Our Country's Good - Bolton Octagon, St James Theatre and international), Paul Westwood (Lazarus - King's Cross Theatre) and David Whitworth (London Assurance - National Theatre). The production will be directed by Clemmie Reynolds, Associate Director on Olivier-nominated Witness for the Prosecution (London County Hall) and Assistant Director on Switzerland (Ambassadors Theatre).
Skin in the Game previewed at Greenwich Theatre, London and Stantonbury Theatre, Milton Keynes before heading to Birmingham where it played at Birmingham Fest and completed a free tour of community centres in the city. The production returned to Greenwich for a local community tour and will now close the 40th anniversary summer season at the Old Red Lion, London where it plays from 20 August - 14 September 2019.
