Welcome to Eddie Costello's Roller Diner - a faded Brummie beacon of a deep fried American dream. The staff can't skate and there's a whiff of burnt sausages and disappointment. So when new waitress Marika arrives from somewhere foreign looking for a slice of a better life, hearts are set alight in a fiery recipe of love, jealousy and murder.

Directed by Soho Theatre Artistic Director Steve Marmion, Roller Diner is the professional debut of Birmingham writer Stephen Jackson and the winner of Soho Theatre's prestigious Verity Bargate Award for new writing. Slashing open the heart of middle England, super duper waitress Marika Malinsky bursts into Eddie Costello's fading 1950s style Birmingham diner. Looking for a taste of a better life, her arrival sets hearts (and sausages) alight in this summer's rip-roaring fiery recipe seasoned with hints of immigration, social turmoil, love and jealousy, with extra ketchup.

Written by 2015 Verity Bargate Winner Stephen Jackson and directed by Soho Theatre Artistic Director Steve Marmion, Roller Diner is a tragic-comic new musical starring Olivier Award winner David Thaxton, Lucy McCormick, Joe Dixon, Rina Fatania, Lucie Shorthouse and Ricky Oakley. Set in a post-industrial everyman English setting and in development for the past two years, it presciently imagines the current state of the nation and the Brexit debate about immigration and identity.

Directed by Soho Theatre's Artistic Director Steve Marmion, Roller Diner features set and costume design by Anthony Lamble, lighting design by Phil Gladwell, sound design by Mic Pool, musical arranger Stephen Edwards, musical director David Thaxton and choreographer Stuart Rogers.
