Phoenix Dance Theatre bring two premières and a double bill by one of the most influential figures in world dance to Canterbury in October.

The company's trademark mixed bill at The Marlowe Theatre features Shadows, a new work created especially for them by Christopher Bruce CBE, and a restaging of his energetic study of life in the 1940s, Shift.

This double bill was previously performed at the Royal Opera House's Linbury Studio Theatre in November 2014, the first time that Phoenix have performed any of this renowned choreographer's work.

The mixed bill also features two world premières - TearFall, by Phoenix Artistic Director Sharon Watson, for eight dancers, and Bloom, by one of the New Adventures Choreographer Award-winners, Caroline Finn.

Sharon follows up her audience favourites Melt (2011) and Repetition Of Change (2103) with TearFall. Supported by the Wellcome Trust, the piece explores both the science and emotion of tears.

Bloom is a darkly comic and playful piece full of surreal characters that ultimately reveal what lies beneath their façade.

Phoenix Dance Theatre's Mixed Programme 2015, suitable for those aged eight and over, is at The Marlowe Theatre at 7.30pm on Tuesday 20 and Wednesday 21 October. Tickets, priced from £11 to £23 (concessions available; booking fee applies), are from the Box Office on 01227 787787 or at marlowetheatre.com.
