New Zealand star Penny Ashton brings a full cast of Austenesque characters to life with song, dance and appalling cross-stitching in this eagerly awaited UK tour of the hilarious Promise and Promiscuity, running 4 October - 15 November 2017, with a press opening slated for 12 October, 7.30pm at Greenwich Theatre, London.

Flushed by four years of success, from Edinburgh to Toronto to Auckland, comes New Zealander Penny Ashton's collaboration with Jane Austen (deceased). Follow the fortunes of Miss Elspeth as she battles literary snobbery, cousin Horatio's digestions and her mother's nerves, armed only with a blushing countenance, excellent ukulele skills and being quite bright, you know... for a girl. In this hilarious, one-(freakishly talented)-woman show, Penny tackles all of Austen's characters with song, dance and appalling cross-stitching.

In this, the year of the 200th anniversary of Jane Austen's death, celebrate her life with the 5th great niece of Austen's own flirtation, Thomas Langlois Lefroy, in an irreverent yet fond reimagining of one of the world's most beloved authors.

Penny Ashton is New Zealand's own global comedienne having performed over 500 solo shows all over the world. She has represented New Zealand in Theatresports and Performance Poetry and has performed by invitation at The Glastonbury Festival and Jane Austen Festival in Bath. She is a regular and original panelist on Radio New Zealand National's The Panel and is a busy marriage celebrant. She also recently discovered she is related to Jane Austen's rumoured flirtation, Thomas Langlois Lefroy. She is his 5th Great Niece! (This story is told in Becoming Jane with Anne Hathaway).

Penny Ashton is New Zealand's own global comedienne who has been making a splash on the world stage since 2002. She has performed over 600 solo shows and has sold out from Edinburgh to Adelaide to Edmonton. She has represented both New Zealand in The World Cup of Theatresports in Germany, and Australasia in a Performance Poetry Slam Tournament Tour of the UK. She has also performed poetry by invitation at The Glastonbury Festival, at The Jane Austen Festival in Bath and has reported from the Miss Universe Pageant in Las Vegas.

Penny has been a professional improviser for 17 years winning the Improvaganza Masters of the Universe title in Edmonton and was the director and brainchild of Austen Found: The Undiscovered Musicals of Jane Austen. She is also a voice over artist and can be heard masquerading as Power Rangers Monsters, the voice of Piety in the game Path of Exile and as various other characters.

Penny is also a social commentator on various radio and TV stations in New Zealand and is a busy wedding celebrant.

Her jobs all revolve around love and laughter. Which she thinks is marvellous.

In 2017 Penny is performing over 80 solo shows in 22 cities in 5 countries. She might be slightly insane, but is very excited to be both touring her new show Olive Copperbottom: A New Musical by Charles Dickens and Penny Ashton to Canada, and taking Promise and Promiscuity to the UK and Ireland.
