Little Angel Theatre announces its second PUPPETS ON FILM FESTIVAL from 12-14 April 2013 in Islington.

Following a successful first festival in 2011, Puppets on Film returns with a diverse new range of films for adults and families. We also have some very exciting special guests to announce. Full listings are attached. Tickets go on sale at midday on Friday 8 March.

There will be a full programme of events over three days (listed on www.littleangeltheatre.com). Highlights include the opening and closing night special events, a unique screening at the Screen on the Green on Sunday morning and the shorts competition on Saturday night.

The Festival opens at 7.30pm on Friday evening, 12 April, with the film PUPPET directed by David Soll. This is the UK premiere of a documentary about celebrated US puppeteer Dan Hurlin and is an illuminating look at the trials and joys of being an artist in this field. It is followed by a very special Q and A with Cheryl Henson (daughter of Jim Henson of Muppets fame) and Dan Hurlin, who have both made the trip from the US for this festival.

On Saturday evening, 13 April from 7.30pm we are running our very own short film competition, bringing together new work by up and coming film makers selected by the Festival (submissions accepted until 16 March!). PUPPET SHORTS NIGHT also includes the screening of THE NARRATIVE OF VICTOR KARLOCH, directed by Kevin McTurk (USA ) and PUNCH AND JUDY, directed by legendary surrealist film maker Jan Svankmajer (Czech).

This year's Festival includes a special Sunday morning screening (10.00am on 14 April) of Jim Henson and Frank Oz's cult film THE DARK CRYSTAL at the Islington Screen on the Green, followed by a post-show discussion. This is a fantastic opportunity to see a Jim Henson classic on the big screen and hear special guests Cheryl Henson and concept artist Brian Froud discuss the creative work behind it all. The screening is in partnership with the Screen on the Green who join the Festival for the first time this year.

And finally, the closing night event at 7.30pm on 14 April is HANDMADE PUPPET DREAMS: AN EVENING OF PUPPET FILMS. The evening is made up of a selection of films, handpicked from Heather Henson's collection. HMPD is a touring festival of independent artists exploring their handmade craft specifically for the camera (more details here: www.handmadepuppetdreams.com) Highlights include Genevieve Anderson's wonderful film TOO LOUD A SOLITUDE and Lyon Hill's fascinating JUNK PALACE.

The full list of films, Q and A's with artists and events suitable for both adult and family audiences are available on the Little Angel Theatre website: wwwlittleangeltheatre.com

Tickets range from just £6.50 to £12 with a 20% discount for anyone booking 4 events or more (excluding The Dark Crystal).

The festival is produced by Little Angel Theatre and has been curated by Louise Radinger. Louise is a filmmaker, director and performer with recent work seen at the Old Vic Tunnels, Pleasance Theatre and Union Chapel. Her love of both film and puppetry led to her initiating the Puppets on Film Festival at Little Angel Theatre. She lives in Highbury.
