On Tuesday 13 November Scamp Theatre's Private Peaceful opens its highly-anticipated five day run at Theatre Royal Winchester.

Michael Morpurgo's Private Peaceful relives the life of Private Tommo Peaceful, a young soldier awaiting the firing squad at dawn. During the night he looks back at his short but joyful past growing up in rural Devon; his exciting first days at school; the accident in the forest that killed his father; his adventures with Molly, the love of his life; and the battles and injustices of war that brought him to the front line.

Playing at Theatre Royal Winchester direct from a celebrated run on London's West End, this moving story has been adapted and directed for the stage by Simon Reade. The production has been programmed alongside a handful of events to commemorate 100 years since the end of the war, including The Armistice Centenary Recalled; a special dramatic recital with Michael Pennington, John Miller and Pamela Miles.

Private Peaceful is Scamp Theatre's award-winning critically-acclaimed adaptation of the novel of the same name by Michael Morpurgo (War Horse). The production stars Andy Daniel and is suitable for everyone aged 8+. Theatre Royal Winchester is passionate about programming some of the country's best touring plays and is delighted to welcome this poignant and must-see show to the stage as an autumn season highlight.

Michael Morpurgo's Private Peaceful plays at Theatre Royal Winchester Tuesday 13 to Saturday 17 November. Tickets are available online at theatreroyalwinchester.co.uk and from the Box Office on 01962 840 440.
