From the producers of last year's Timeout Critic's Choice Ruddigore, comes Gilbert & Sullivan operetta, The Pirates of Penzance at The Tabard Theatre, tonight 16 May to Sunday 10 June 2012. Tuesday – Saturday @ 7:30 pm, Saturday @ 4pm, Sunday @ 2:30pm; No performances on Mondays. Tickets are priced £18 (£16 concessions, £14 children)

Orphaned pirates, flat-footed policemen, a bevy of blushing maidens and the pretty daughter of Major General Stanley – all the ingredients for a fabulous recipe of G & S at their very best. Sullivan's ever popular and memorable score contains some of his most beautiful writing as Gilbert, in his most topsy turvy of all plots, leads us through the swashbuckling world of young Frederic, the Pirate apprentice, who was born on February 29th in a leap year and therefore won't be 21 and come of age until he is 84.

The Pirates of Penzance is produced in-house at the Tabard Theatre whose previous musical credits in addition to Ruddigore include Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella, You're a Good Man Charlie Brown, and Just So. Last year's Ruddigore was a critical and box office smash, named Time Out Critics Choice and one of their Top Five Shows of the Week. It was subsequently extended due to popular demand.

With cast of 16, a live band and some of Gilbert and Sullivan's best tunes such as 'A Policeman's Lot', and 'I Am The Very Model of a Modern Major General', the Tabard Theatre's production of The Pirates of Penzance imaginatively combines the wit and charm of the original with a contemporary vigour that will delight both G & S fans and new audiences alike.

The cast includes: Mabel: Elsie Bennett, Frederick: Owen Pullar, Pirate King: Guy Mott, Samuel: Simeon Oakes, Ruth: Darrie Gardner, Sergeant: Callum Hale, Major-General: Roger Parkins, Edith: Katrina Gibson, Kate: Chloe Nicholson, Isabel: Louise Gookey, Ensemble: Kathryn Rutherford, Charlotte De Paeztron, Gareth Mitchell, Benjamin Vivian-Jones, Rossano Canzio, and Mark McManus.

The Production Team includes:  Director: Matt Harrison, Designer: Chris Hone, Musical Director: Andre Refig, Choreographer: Lee Greenaway, Lighting Designer: Phillip Jones, Sound Designer: Mitch Peters, Producer: Pulling Focus Ltd for the Tabard Theatre
