Renowned broadcaster and irrepressible comedienne Ruby Wax is the latest star to join the line up of London's most talked-about pantomime this Christmas. Following last week's casting announcement, Ruby will star as the Genie of the Lamp alongside guest stars Pamela Anderson and Paul O'Grady as they each share the role at the Home of London Pantomime, New Wimbledon Theatre.

Ruby has become a regular and much-loved fixture on British television thanks to her presence on the 1980s alternative comedy circuit and her various roles in British sitcoms Girls on Top and Absolutely Fabulous. She soon went on to forge a highly successful career interviewing high-profile celebrities in her acclaimed series ‘Ruby Wax Meets' where she delved into the lives, homes (and sock drawers) of the likes of Imelda Marcos, OJ Simpson, and even her fellow-genie Pamela Anderson.

Whether sharing a Jacuzzi with Goldie Hawn, rehearsing onstage with the Spice Girls or donning the famous red swimming costume and being an extra on Baywatch (before being asked to leave the set for disrupting filming), Ruby has become renowned both for her revealing and candid interview style and hilarious comedy timing, which she will undoubtedly bring to Pantoland when she performs from Friday 4 until Saturday 12 December.

Ruby Wax said: "I again am playing Pamela Anderson's body double. She is only doing two weeks, but since we are indistinguishable I have said OK I'll do her for another week. I am almost sick with excitement as I have such hidden talents that I believe will be displayed in their full glory at New Wimbledon Theatre."

Executive General Manager Maralyn Sarrington said: "We are thrilled with the response of our initial announcement of Pamela Anderson, Paul O'Grady and Brian Blessed and we are equally as delighted to welcome Ruby Wax to the company. We have had an overwhelming response, both from the press and our loyal customers, and I urge anyone wishing to see this must-see show to book fast!"

With a third Genie now out of the lamp, and with a fourth one soon to be announced, New Wimbledon Theatre is gearing up for what is guaranteed to be the biggest, brightest and best pantomime in the UK this Christmas.
