A large proportion of the European population is made up of elderly people, and yet we still find it difficult to talk about aging and death. Robert, Ishai and Pippo are living in a care home, looked after by their charming nurse Bonita. Incorporating life-size puppets, dance and mime, they look back on their lives as they approach their ends and consider the things they did and the things they didn't do. Our Theatre's wordless play asks what makes a life well lived and reframes death and aging as universal experiences not to be feared.
Director Irakli Khoshtaria said, "Our Theatre is constantly in search of new, varied and diverse approaches that make our communication with the audience more effective. We don't establish age limits and try to satisfy the needs of everyone in every way. Uttered with gestures and expressions, Paradiso is created for people from all ages, nationalities and religions to get into audience's hearts through two main human emotions - laughter and tears."
One of the few Georgian theatre companies to have performed in the UK, Our Theatre was founded in Tbilisi, Georgia. The company works with different styles of puppetry - marionettes, hand puppets, stick puppets and contemporary styles - to create performances and shows for both children and adults. Our Theatre's work began with art performances in the streets of Tbilisi and Istanbul before becoming involved in various Turkish street festivals. The company has worked on scenography various Georgian theatres as well as managing art shows and performances.
