Oddsocks Productions to Present MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING

This June, the Belgrade Theatre is thrilled to welcome Oddsocks Productions with their brand new touring production of Much Ado About Nothing; a high octane version of Shakespeare's witty battle of the sexes featuring well-known pop hits from across the decades.

Soldiers Benedick, Claudio and Prince Don Pedro are on leave and knowing that war is good for absolutely nothing they party with the 'Single Ladies' Beatrice and Hero. 'Mr Brightside' Claudio, gets engaged to his young love Hero and Benedick is tricked into falling for Beatrice and they start to show their 'True Colours'.

The romantic mood is broken by the Prince's half-brother, the 'Creep' Don John, who misleads Claudio with lies and creates a 'Tainted Love'. A dramatic confrontation at the wedding leaves Hero presumed dead and her bridesmaid Beatrice 'Holding Out For A Hero'.

A dramatic conclusion awaits as the true villains are confronted, the deception is revealed and the lovers are reunited in a musical climax that will raise the roof and get everyone on their feet.

Oddsocks Productions takes classic texts and create bold, challenging innovative and interactive theatre to be enjoyed by all. They tell good stories, in exciting ways and have been touring nationally and internationally for 26 years to theatres and non-traditional arts venues.

Oddsocks Productions was set up 25 years ago by Andy Barrow and Elli Mackenzie and is a critically acclaimed nationally touring theatre company who take classic texts and create bold, challenging, innovative and interactive theatre to be enjoyed by all. During summer they tour indoors and outdoors, taking their work out to diverse communities across the UK and Channel Islands.

Andy Barrow, Oddsocks Co-founder, director and actor describes what an audience can expect from the 2016 summer shows: "Lively characters, live music and thoughtful performances. Expect to be uplifted and moved! Crazy summer nights sharing an energised Shakespeare comedy with hundreds of people!"

Elli Mackenzie, Oddsocks co-founder and Producer added: "We create theatrical experiences that are for everyone. We've created over 70 productions and performed to over 380,000 audience members in all weathers! No hierarchy or elitism, telling good stories in innovative ways to create a great night out."

Following the tradition of Oddsocks' outdoor performances, the company have created a space in front of the main seating where you can bring along a cushion and sit on the floor, for a special indoor-alfresco experience! These tickets cost from just £6.75 to £7.25 but are limited so early booking is advised.

Oddsocks Productions have toured to countries as far afield as Jordan and Syria with their iconic style of comedy. Recently, they performed across the UK with their 'Summer of Love' tour which included 'Twelfth Night' as a Brit-Pop musical and A Midsummer Night's Dream (where one character appeared as a 10ft blue avatar.)

Aside from being a touring theatre company, Oddsocks also run their Open Doors scheme: allowing disadvantaged communities, families and individuals to engage with. They offer tuition, recruitment workshops and enterprise days for students. Oddsocks lead corporate training and help businesses to understand the importance of internal communication in the workplace. Oddsocks is a theatrical experience for everyone!
