Investec Opera Holland Park will stage a double bill of Margot la Rouge and Le Villi in 2020. Le Villi has been on OHP's planning board for some time and the performance will mark the opera's first major London staging.

Set in the seedy Paris underworld, Delius's only verismo opera Margot la Rouge was composed for the Sonzogno competition (whose winners include Mascagni's Cavalleria rusticana), as was Puccini's bosky fantasy of lost love and supernatural revenge, Le Villi. Both works will be performed in their original orchestrations, from 1902 and 1883 respectively.

OHP's new production of Margot la Rouge will be generously supported by The Delius Trust.

The double bill will replace Montemezzi's La nave in 2020, and this opera will be presented in a future season.

The 2020 Investec Opera Holland Park Season will also include new stagings of Verdi's Rigoletto, Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin, and Lehár's The Merry Widow.

Casting information and performance dates will be given in due course.

Investec Opera Holland Park's 2019 Season will run from 4 June to 3 August. For further information please visit www.operahollandpark.com.
