Reading Rep Theatre today announces the appointment of Nick Thompson as Executive Producer. He joins the company as they embark on a capital campaign to open a cultural arts hub as their first permanent home in Reading.
Nick Thompson said today, "Reading Rep is driven by a mission to create world-class theatre for an engaged and diverse audience in the UK. Under the leadership of Paul Stacey, Reading Rep has very quickly become synonymous with artistic integrity, meaningful political, social, and educational engagement and a leading player in the developing creative scene in Berkshire and beyond. Nick Thompson has most recently worked as a producer for the Young Vic where his projects included Wild East, Bronx Gothic, Ivan and the Dog's, My England, and The 8 Club. As a producer for Headlong, his credits include Labour of Love (Noel Coward Theatre) and People, Places & Things (UK tour). His producing credits with Nick Thompson Productions include How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying (Wilton's Music Hall), Holy Crap (King's Head Theatre), Disco Pigs (Young Vic), and Carmen: The Gypsy (Reading Rep Theatre). Thompson was Artistic Director of the Old Red Lion Theatre (2011-2014), where he programmed and produced more than 60 shows including Murcury Fur (Trafalgar Studios), The Importance of Being Earnest (The Theatre Royal Haymarket) and Kissing Sid James (59E59 Off-Broadway).
Nick was the originating producer of The Play That Goes Wrong for the Old Red Lion Theatre and at Trafalgar Studios. He has also worked with Mischief Theatre on the first production of Peter Pan Goes Wrong (General Manager) and The Nativity Play Goes Wrong (Director).
He was the recipient of a Stage One New Producers Bursary in 2015, and is an alumnus of Central School of Speech and Drama.
