Following their successful first production The Ruby Slippers, Break A Leg Productions in association with Bill Elms return with a brand new psychological thriller BLOOD RUNS DEEP, written by Emma Culshaw and David Paul. Set in the 1990's, the 4-character play will star Hollyoaks villain Keith Rice as Jake. The play will perform its first pilot run on The Wirral this autumn and tickets are on sale now!

BLOOD RUNS DEEP will have audiences literally on the edge of their seats, single mother Karen Richards is on the run with her unsuspecting son, praying she can hide their chilling family secret and live a normal life. When an unwelcome visitor arrives at her home, the truth catches up with her, resulting in terrifying consequences. The play will run from 11-14 October 2017 at The Gladstone Theatre in Port Sunlight.

The play stars one of Hollyoaks most hated villains, Keith Rice as Jake, a teenager with a morbid fascination in horror movies and serial killers, a worry to his girlfriend Zoe. As well as film and stage work, Keith is best known as long-standing character Finn O'Connor in Hollyoaks, from 2013-2015. He has currently returned to the Soap to carry on his reign of terror. The full cast will be announced soon.

On confirming the part Keith Rice said "I'm absolutely thrilled to be returning to the stage and looking forward to working on this great psychological thriller, Blood Runs Deep."

The two-act thriller, set on a council estate comes from writers Emma Culshaw and David Paul.

Writers Emma Culshaw and David Paul added: "Blood Runs Deep has been in development for the past two years. It is a chilling, psychological thriller and explores the themes of truth, identity, natural instinct and family loyalty. Throughout the play, each of the four characters must come face to face with a disturbing and unpalatable truth. We wanted to examine how necessary it was to tell the truth. Maybe some secrets have a reason to stay hidden? Can we cause more damage by being honest? Or is the truth something that we can never escape?

"We were also very interested in what is inherited through the family line at birth and the bonds within families. How do genetics factor in shaping our decision making and personality? Is it free will that draws a person to the darker aspects in life or can our biology be to blame?"

The play is produced by new Production Company Break A Leg Productions in association with theatre producer Bill Elms, this is their second collaboration having hosted the acclaimed comedy drama, The Ruby Slippers. Bill has also recently produced Epstein - The Man Who Made The Beatles and Twopence to Cross the Mersey - The Stage Play.

When the truth surfaces there is no escape!
