New Plays by Norris, Raine, Crowe et al. Set For Royal Court Theatre's Fall Season

The Royal Court Theatre has announced its fall season, featuring the premieres of five new shows including plays by Bruce Norris, Nina Raine, Nick Payne, E V Crowe and Brett Neveu.

Bruce Norris' new play CLYBOURNE PARK will begin performaces August 26 and run through October 2. CLYBOURNE PARK will be performed in the mailhouse Jerwood Theatre downstairs. CLYBOURNE PARK takes place in 1959, when Russ and Bev are selling their desirable two-bed at a knock-down price. This enables the first Black family to move into the neighbourhood, creating ripples of discontent amongst the cosy white urbanites of Clybourne Park. In 2009, the same property is being bought by Lindsey and Steve whose plans to raze the house and start again is met with a similar response. Are the issues festering beneath the floorboards actually the same fifty years on? CLYBOURNE PARK will be directed by Dominic Cooke, desgined by Robert Innes Hopkins, with lighting by Paule Constable and sound by David McSeveney.

Nina Raine's new play TRIBES will begin performances October 14 and run through November 13. TRIBES is a dissection of belonging, family and the limitations of communication. Nina Raine won the Evening Standard Award and Critics Circle Award for Most Promising Playwright for her debut play Rabbit in 2006 and is also a director, recently directing Alia Bano's Shades at the Royal Court.TRIBE will be directed by Roger Michell, desgined by Mark Thompson, with lighting by Rick Fisher and sound by John Leonard.

Nick Payne's new play WANDERLUST will begin performances September 9 and run through October 9. WANDERLUST explores a family dealing with sex, Joy is a married woman, a GP, and struggling to remain interested in sex. Her husband Alan, however, thinks of little else. And their teenage son Tim is ready to burst. Payne's first play was If There Is I Haven't Found It Yet at the Bush Theatre and he was the winner of the George Devine Award in 2009. WANDERLUST will be directed by Simon Godwin, designed by Robert Innes Hopkins with lighting by Hames Farncombe.

E V Crowe's new play KIN will begin performances November 9 and run through December 23. KIN takes place at a girls' boarding school in the 1990s, which is no Malory Towers. Whilst Mimi learns her lines for John Proctor in the Christmas play, Janey desperately clings on to her best friend status.KIN will be directed by Jeremy Herrin, desgined by Bunny Christie, with lighting by Malcolm Rippeth and sound by Christopher Shutt.

Brett Neveu's new play RED BUD will begin performances October 21 and run through November 13. RED BUD takes place at a summer camp where five friends pay tribute to a motorcross championship. Chicago-based writer Brett Neveu's play Eric LaRue was at the RSC as part of their New Work Festival in 2005. This is his Royal Court debut.RED BUD will be directed by Jo McInnes, desgined by Tom Hadley, with lighting by Jon Clark and sound by Fergus O'Hare.
