People across the area have been invited to take part in a new digital art project celebrating the town of Warrington.
Warrington Contemporary Arts Festival has teamed up with artist Gillian Hobson and Golden Square shopping centre to create a unique and personal film all about Warrington.
This work, called Your History of the Future, reimagines key landmarks across the town's 24 boroughs, transforming the familiar scenery into a kaleidoscope of different colours, shapes and patterns.
However, this is a project with a difference as members of the community have been called to help shape what the final piece will look like by nominating their favourite places around the town.
Roger Jeffery, from Culture Warrington - the charity that oversees the running of Warrington Contemporary Arts Festival, as well as Warrington Museum & Art Gallery and Pyramid & Parr Hall - said: "We're always really keen to involve members of the community with Warrington Contemporary Arts Festival, so it's great to have people nominating their favourite places to be included in the work."
Warrington Contemporary Arts Festival is an annual celebration that takes place in the autumn. However, in 2017 the festival secured funding from Arts Council England to extend the festival across the whole year, resulting in a wide number of events, shows, and exhibitions across venues such as Warrington Museum and Art Gallery, Pyramid, and now Golden Square shopping centre.
Gillian Hobson's Your History of the Future is the next work to be unveiled as part of the festival, and it will be on display in Golden Square from Saturday 7 July.
Ian Cox, director of Golden Square shopping centre, said: "We're so pleased to have been able to team up with Warrington Museum and Art Gallery and the incredible artist, Gillian Hobson.
"There are so many great locations across the 24 boroughs of Warrington, so I'm sure the community is really going to enjoy recognising their favourite places when watching the film. In the meantime, we're encouraging our shoppers to submit their much-loved Warrington spots, such as parks, churches and businesses.
"We're extremely excited to see the final film showing the public's favourite locations and we can't wait to open the unit for Golden Square shoppers to enjoy the town's unique piece."
Through her moving masterpiece, artist Gillian Hobson hopes audiences will explore the similarities and differences between different locations in their town.
She said: "Our experience of environment informs us, but can also inspire us to envision fresh ways to appreciate, experience and imagine. I'm delighted to be working with WCAF and looking forward to discovering more about this important area and its residents."
People can nominate their favourite places via the Warrington Contemporary Arts Festival website www.warringtonartsfestival.co.uk, or by getting in touch on our social media channels.
Your History of the Future will be on at Golden Square shopping centre between Saturday 7 July and Friday 31 August.
