Needless Alley Productions in collaboration with the King's Head Theatre presents
The Shoemaker's Wonderful Wife By Federico Garcia Lorca with an EXTENDED RUN 16-23 November.

After the being transferred from its run at the Camden Fringe Festival this summer to the reputable stage of London's principal fringe venue, the King's Head Theatre, Needless Alley Collective's production of The Shoemaker's Wonderful Wife has found such a warm reception, that we have been asked to extend the run.

What has started as a project between just out of University drama students, has now found success on the London stage with critical and audience acclaim.

This unique take on Lorca's farce intertwines traditional Spanish flamenco and contemporary acoustic rhythms. It brings an original and heart-warming approach to Lorca's farcical take on the dysfunctional ways of married life, whilst enhancing its Spanish roots, making this ensemble piece a feast for the ears and the eyes for all types of audiences, including families.

First performed in 1930, The Shoemaker's Wonderful Wife is set in a rural Spanish village and tells the story of the busty, lusty wife of the local Shoemaker and her relationship with the villagers. In this production, Lorca uses his well-known farcical writings to portray this surprisingly realistic social criticism of traditional Catholic communities and the cultural oppression on the inhabitants, particularly on those who refuse to comply with the norms.

It is Directed by Cordelia Howard with Musical direction by Rosie Hopkins. It is Produced by Xavier de Sousa and Catherine Goodwin. The cast includes Matt Penman, Georgie Farwell, Rosie Hopkins
