Museum Announces New Sunday Opening Times

Weekends are set to get even better this summer as Warrington Museum & Art Gallery announces new Sunday opening times.

Warrington's award-winning museum has announced that it will now open one Sunday a month, in partnership with the highly-successful The Makers Market.

The Market, which opened in March, is the ultimate family day out in Queens Gardens, boasting tempting treats such as locally-produced food and drink, arts and crafts and live entertainment.

Now, Warrington families can double their fun with a trip to the neighbouring Warrington Museum & Art Gallery, where a whole host of entertaining activities will be laid on for people of all ages.

Kicking off this Sunday (13 May), visitors can channel their inner artist by taking part in a fine art painting demonstration with Warrington artist Marc Turner, who was inspired by the town's rich artistic history from an early age.

Next, the museum is set to be transformed into a galaxy far, far away on Sunday 10 June as the 99th Garrison takes over for one day only. With Star Wars-themed arts and crafts and opportunities to pose with some of the franchise's most-famous characters, this is one event that is not to be missed!

The fun continues throughout the summer with children's craft events on Sunday 8 July and Sunday 12 August, before heritage manager Janice Hayes gives a special talk about the museum's unique history on Sunday 9 September.

After a special event to celebrate Warrington Contemporary Arts Festival in October, the museum will then pay tribute to the centenary of the 1918 armistice on Sunday 11 November.
