North West based Monsta Productions is delighted to announce their first professional production of Jason Robert Brown's heart-breaking musical The Last Five Years.

The Last Five Years follows the unique structure of a five-year relationship between aspiring actress Cathy and young novelist Jamie and is inspired by Brown's own failed marriage. It's the emotionally powerful and intimate story of a young couple who fall in and out of love over the course of five years. In a city where professional and personal passions collide, only the strongest relationships survive.

Artistic Director John Garfield-Roberts set up Monsta Productions in the North West with the aim to give professional actors work in the region and is delighted that the first show will open in his home city of Chester.

"I am delighted to launch Monsta Productions with such a powerful piece of musical theatre and in the city and indeed the same building where my love for the stage started over 20 years ago. Monsta Productions aims to produce work from within the North West and I am delighted I can do that with our first professional production and as a bonus we are announcing that 30 tickets per performance in Chester will be on sale for just £10."

The production will star Mountview musical theatre graduate Laura Coard as Cathy. Recent credits include: Nancy in Oliver! (Trinity Theatre), Words and Music (Sadler's Wells) and Ordinary Days (King's Arms, Salford). In the role of Jamie will be Michael Jenkins whose recent credits include: Aladdin (The Stiwt Theatre), Homes Fires (ITV) and Spring Awakening (St Peters).

The Last Five Years will be directed by John Garfield-Roberts whose credits include Momentous Musicals (starring John Owen-Jones and recent Britain's Got Talent live semi-finalist Racheal Wooding) and the current UK Tour of hit comedy drama Kissing Frogs. The production will be musically directed by award winning musical director Tricia Gaskell who will conduct a six-piece orchestra.
