Melinda Hughes makes a very welcome return to Live At Zedel on March
14 & 15 following her sell out shows last year.

Melinda's brilliantly crafted show includes original written songs about the special relationship between the UK and the US; Selfies, Brexit, Donald Trump's incessant tweeting and post-truth alternative facts. Melinda has just returned from New York where her show "Cheers darling" was a resounding success, winning the heart of Broadway critics and receiving high critical acclaim. Her latest song "tweets in the night" " https://youtu.be/ZWo56iKbuMo was picked up and tweeted by Vanity Fair who described her as "scandalous and timely."

Drawing inspiration from Weimar Cabaret, Melinda highlights the similarities between today's political climate and 1933 making this a poignant, hilarious and unforgettable evening.

Melinda has written and performed with co-writer Jeremy Limb at numerous International Festivals. Her CD Smoke and Noise (Nimbus) won critical acclaim in The US and UK leading her to appear on BBC Radio 3 and BBC Radio 4 with Barry Humphries. A graduate of The Royal College of Music, Melinda toured Europe for four years as the soloist to the famous violinist Andre Rieu. She has sung many lead operatic roles including Aida, Tosca and Madame Butterfly working in more than forty countries and will be appearing on BBC Four Television series about Weimar Cabaret in summer 2017.

Melinda, who will be performing with her Kiss and Tell Trio and Musical Director Jeremy Limb, is one of the foremost female satirists bringing political satire through the medium of song to her audience

Melinda is the daughter of the late film director Ken Hughes and lives in London.
