Hendrix Productions - producer LAURA CRAMPSIE - are delighted to announce that filming of ACT OF MEMORY, JACK RYDER'S own screenplay based upon the award-winning short story ACT OF MEMORY by the 80-year-old American writer Mary Grace DEMBECK, commenced on location in London's East End on 16 December.

This autobiographical film tells the story of a young 11-year-old girl Maria, and how she deals and copes with her first Christmas without her Father and the memories that it awakens.

ACT OF MEMORY marks JACK RYDER'S film directorial debut. As an actor, Jack has appeared as Jamie Mitchell in EASTENDERS, as Romeo in Michael Bogdanov's production of ROMEO AND JULIET and as Lawrence in CALENDAR GIRLS in London's West End, on which he is also the Associate Director. After completing filming, Jack returns to the stage to play in Thea Sharrock'S production of PLENTY at Sheffield Theatres.

Anna Massey will play the part of the elder Maria. Anna's credits include many years with the Royal Shakespeare Company and Royal National Theatre as well as her BAFTA Award-winning performance in HOTEL DU LAC, and also working with ALFRED HITCHOCK on FRENZY.

Claire Skinner will play the part of the Mother. CLAIRE'S credits include the award-winning television series OUTNUMBERED as well as appearing in several of Mike Leigh's films. Claire can currently be seen in DEATHTRAP in London's West End.

Owen Teale will play the part of the Father. Owen's credits include the Emmy Award-winning television film CONSPIRACY playing opposite Kenneth Branagh and he also won the Tony Award for his performance in A DOLL'S HOUSE on Broadway.

Grace Cooper Milton is making her film debut - she is 11 years old and studies at Sydenham High School and is currently appearing onstage at the National Theatre in MEN SHOULD WEEP.

The producer of the film is LAURA CRAMPSIE. Laura studied filmmaking at Manchester University and New York University and her credits to date include LA BEAUTE by Christiane De Anda, THE TRAP, THE MAN YOU'RE NOT and CASTLE BAY; all three feature films will be released next year.
