THE MARLOWE Theatre and The Beaney are joining forces to present the second Canterbury Children's Festival.

Taking place at the end of this month, in the half-term break, there will be performances at The Marlowe Studio, interactive craft and storytelling workshops at The Beaney, and free activities at both venues.

Events at The Marlowe Studio include a Play-In-A-Day workshop, an adaptation of Michael Morpurgo's I Believe In Unicorns, Misunderstood Monsters, a show about facing your fears, the return of Comedy Club 4 Kids, and an hour of very silly comedy with Tiernan Douieb's Everything You've Ever Needed To Know Ever And Some Extra Stuff.

At The Beaney House Of Art And Knowledge, families can enjoy interactive storytelling on themes of Dinosaurs And Prehistoric Monsters and Unicorns, Mermaids And Dragons, a chance to make their own monster, a stand-up comedy workshop for children and a talk from author Eleanor Hawken on her children's book Sammy Feral's Diaries Of Weird. The week culminates with Little Monster Costume Workshops and The Big Monster Parade, with prizes for the best dressed monster!

Families can enjoy free drop-in Roman Monster Activities at the Canterbury Roman Museum, and Teddy Bear Story drop-in activities at The Beaney. At The Marlowe, there will be free storytelling, as well as poetry, drama and dance workshops.

The Marlowe's Head of Creative Projects, Daniel Lipman, said: "It was great last year to see so many families have fun here and at The Beaney. We've added lots of events this year and the festival promises to be bigger, better and even more fun!"

Canterbury Children's Festival runs from Saturday 24 to Saturday 31 May. For more details and to book tickets, call The Marlowe Box Office on 01227 787787 or go to marlowetheatre.com. The festival is sponsored by Lipscomb Volvo.
