Everyone has the chance to be creative in a new series of workshops at The Marlowe Theatre.
From music, movement and fun for pre-school children (The Marlowe Diddies), to a session for adults exploring the different styles of theatre through play readings and creative scriptwriting (The Marlowe Speakeasy), these events give people the opportunity to try something new.
Those over the age of 18 can learn about, and take part in, the various acting techniques and practices in The Marlowe People's Company, and different ages are catered for in several Marlowe Youth Theatre sessions: The Marlowe Junior Company (eight to 11 years), The Marlowe Apprentice Company (12 to 15) and The Marlowe Senior Company (16 to 21).
The Marlowe Senior Company will have the chance to audition for The National Theatre Connections festival, hosted at The Marlowe, with the possibility of going on to perform at The National Theatre in London.
Alex Jespersen, current Senior Company participant and performer in last year's NT Connections performance, said: "Since joining the Marlowe Youth Theatre I have not only had the privilege of attending the weekly sessions, but I was also lucky enough to take part in the Marlowe's production for NT Connections.
"I have to say this opportunity was a fantastic experience and reinforced the fact that acting is definitely the career path I would like to follow. I really hope to continue to be a part of the Marlowe 'world'."
The theatre is now offering a new session to cater for those aged five to seven, The Marlowe Minis, with drama, dance, music and games providing a perfect introduction to theatre.
Led by new Marlowe Literary Associate and acclaimed playwright Simon Mendes da Costa, the theatre will also offer writing workshops. Marlowe's Young Writers (13 to 18) and Marlowe's Playwrights (18 and over) give people of all levels of experience the chance to try their hand at writing for the stage.
Head of Creative Projects Daniel Lipman said: "There's a real sense of community and encouragement within the workshops - they're constantly learning, but also having a lot of fun. It's always inspiring to see all our participants grow in confidence with each new term."
Workshop places cost £59 for a 10-week term. Places are limited. To find out more, including dates, times and prices, call the Box Office on 01227 787787, go to marlowetheatre.com or email info@marlowetheatre.com.
