HELP share the magic of theatre - that's the message from The Marlowe as it launches its Give a Little Extra campaign.

This new fundraising initiative is asking people to donate spare cash in collection boxes at the venue, or by using their mobiles. Donations, which are being made to The Marlowe Theatre Development Trust (a UK-registered charity), will help ensure the lives of people, especially children, are inspired and enriched though contact with the theatre. For example, this could be through free tickets to see a show or free workshops for schools and community groups.

Phil "Mister Maker" Gallagher, star of Jack And The Beanstalk and a man of Kent, is backing the campaign. He said: "It's a dream come true for me to be appearing on stage at The Marlowe Theatre.

"I've also been lucky enough to be in the audience many times - but there are lots of people, especially children, who simply aren't able to visit the theatre. Give a Little Extra aims to change that; to ensure that everyone has a chance to enjoy the magic of live shows - not just pantomime, but all year round."

Fundraising Chairman Paul Barrett said: "Christmas is a magical time but going to the theatre is magical too. You only have to look at the excited expressions on the children's faces at Jack And The Beanstalk.

"The Marlowe Theatre Development Trust sees how contact with the arts can enrich and indeed change lives and we ask theatre enthusiasts to help us share that magic with children and those less fortunate through our new fundraising campaign, Give a Little Extra."

To donate by mobile, simply text XTRA11, followed by the amount, to 70070 (for example, XTRA11 £5). Donations can be made in any of the following amounts: £1, £2, £3, £4, £5, £10.
