Lee Henderson has been appointed the new Chief Executive of the Marina Theatre, Lowestoft following Martin Halliday's departure last Summer.

The Marina Theatre Trustees are delighted to have appointed a new Chief Executive and Lee brings a wealth of experience to the role, having recently been General Manager at the Theatre Royal Stratford East, London. During his tenure Lee was responsible for developing new and existing commercial activities, leading the major auditorium refurbishment and ensuring the successful procurement of a new studio and cafe. Alongside being responsible for programme scheduling, human resources, operations and production planning.

Previously Lee has worked in Producing and General Management for numerous West End, Broadway and Touring companies. Shows have included Ghost The Musical, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Carnaby Street the Musical, Jersey Boys and Lilies on the Land.

Lee will be responsible for moving the Marina Theatre forward into 2016 enabling us to deliver the company's most successful programme both artistically and commercially to date, building on the great work from the management team, staff and volunteers.

2016 brings a fantastic line up of live productions including Footloose, Tell Me On A Sunday starring Jodie Prenger, The Gruffalo's Child and Aled Jones, as well welcoming comedians Jimmy Carr, Al Murray and Romesh Ranganathan all in addition to the popular film and live screening programme, building on an audience of over 80,000 people attending the theatre last year - this will be a year to remember for the Marina.

The last 7 months has seen a great change at the Marina, with the beautiful new façade all finished and with our fabulous vibrant lively Theatre Café serving a wide range of specialty hot drinks, delicious cakes and light meals, the theatre really has become a hub for the Arts in Lowestoft.

On accepting the role of Chief Executive, Lee Henderson said: "I'm delighted to be appointed as Chief Executive for The Marina Theatre and proud to be leading this wonderful theatre. I'm committed to creating new collaborations and building on existing partnerships to ensure we offer our audience and visitors the very best entertainment and that we continue to reach even more people with an exciting, diverse and vibrant programme. Building upon the theatre's past achievements I look forward to working with the Board, the talented team, volunteers and the wider community as we build our next chapter together"

Chair of the Marina Theatre Trust, David Blyth, said: "Lee Henderson joins the Marina Theatre at a very exciting time, we now have an experienced senior management team, and Lee has all the qualities needed to take the team and the theatre to new exciting heights, continuing to grow the quality of our offer, and build on our loyal audience numbers"
