Maiden Speech Double-Bill Heads to Leicester Square Theatre This December Image

A double-bill of new feminist theatre heads to Leicester Square Theatre for three nights only this December. After sold-out and critically-acclaimed runs at the Maiden Speech festival, Ma, Am I Good In Bed? headlines this double-bill, alongside Purple Snowflakes And Titty Wanks and Much Ado About Hero.

In Ma, Am I Good In Bed? we meet Ella and Lucy, two Aussie sisters with one very Irish mammy. Growing up, the Duffys were desperate to be good. Good at being smart, attractive, funny, charming. Oh, and really f-ing good in bed. When Ella and Lucy actually started having sex, they quickly realised they weren't especially good at it, or anything else for that matter. The world was more complicated than Ma had let on. Ma, Am I Good In Bed? is written and performed by Roísín Bevan and Sinéad Bevan.

Purple Snowflakes And Titty Wanks is a fearless example of semi-autobiographical storytelling and Irish humour. We follow Sarah through grief, drunken nights, and a variety of sexual exploits in a hilarious and heart-breaking one-woman show about mental illness, sexuality, and friendship. Purple Snowflakes is written and performed by Sarah Hanly, and directed by Alice Fitzgerald.

Hero is a young woman navigating her way through sixteenth century life and having a rather difficult time of it. Much Ado About Hero is a new musical work that re-examines Shakespeare's comedy Much Ado About Nothing, questioning marriage, choice, duty and female friendship. Much Ado About Hero is written and performed by Lexi Clare, with music and lyrics by Lexi Clare and Amy Le Rossignol.

Producer Lexi Clare says, "There has never been a more important time to celebrate female voices and challenge the dominant image of women on stage. These plays are exciting and challenging pieces created by emerging artists and I am delighted to bring them to Leicester Square Theatre."

Lexi Clare Productions is a fresh new Production Company with a focus on providing platforms for emerging artists and feminist work. In October 2017, Lexi Clare Productions launched the inaugural Maiden Speech festival, which successfully staged nine new plays by emerging female artists.
