Something is lurking in the dark. It's waiting under the stairs, hidden beneath the bed, and it's staring right back at you in the mirror. Nobody else knows it's there. Or maybe they're just pretending they don't. As shadows appear in the night and it feels like the weight of the world has come crashing down, what chance is there to break free when fear itself takes hold? And, even in the harsh light of day, are those fears any less unsettling?
WILDERBEAST were born through Made In Bristol, a scheme created by Bristol Old Vic's Engagement department that brings thirteen emerging theatre-makers together to become residents in the building for a year. The theatre company contains nine former Bristol Old Vic Young Company members who are now looking to develop their passion into a career path. During their time, the group of 18-25 year olds train as workshop leaders, assistants, and theatre-makers, participating in classes that allow them to develop their skills and form a unique style of work as a company.Tickets: £13

Bristol Old Vic is the longest continuously running theatre in the UK, and celebrated its 250th anniversary in 2016. Under Artistic Director Tom Morris and Chief Executive Emma Stenning, the historic playhouse aims to inspire audiences with its own original productions, both at home and on tour, whilst nurturing the next generation of artists, whether that be through their 350-strong Young Company, their many outreach and education projects or their trailblazing artist development programme, Bristol Ferment.
They use their funding to support experiment and innovation, to allow access to their programme for people who would not otherwise encounter it, or be able to afford it, and to keep their extraordinary heritage alive and animated. Since 2016, while the theatre continues to present work, it has simultaneously been undergoing a multi-million pound redevelopment project to transform its front of house space into a warm and welcoming public building for all of Bristol to enjoy, create a new Studio Theatre and open up its unique theatrical heritage to the public for the first time. The project is due to be completed in autumn 2018.Videos
