Big Wobbly Productions and London's Hackney Empire are delighted to announce the first full production and London premiere of Paul Boyd's hit musical comedy Molly Wobbly's Tit Factory - the show that took the Edinburgh Festival Fringe by storm when it ran at the Assembly Rooms in 2012.
Molly Wobbly's Tit Factory tells the hilarious story of what happens to the shop keepers of MamMary Lane in the quiet town of Little Happening when a mysterious stranger arrives and unveils a sign outside the abandoned church that reads "Molly Wobbly's Tit Factory". Heavily laden with big laughs, catchy songs, and leaky implants, the show sticks a finely tuned musical hypodermic firmly into the bosom of today's surgery-obsessed culture.
Molly Wobbly's Tit Factory was shortlisted for the Mackintosh Foundation's Highland Quest For A New Musical in 2006. The current version of the show was commissioned and developed by Northern Ireland's national producing theatre the Lyric Theatre Belfast where it previewed for a sell-out staged concert run in 2011 and then again for a pre-Edinburgh season in July 2012.
An Original Cast Recording CD was released by SimG Records last year and has been a regular best-seller at London's Dress Circle shop and from various outlets online (all royalties from sales of the CD are donated to Terrence Higgins Trust). Now the show is set to make its commercial debut, in a joint venture between its caretakers Big Wobbly Productions and Hackney Empire, from 20th September - 5th October 2013.
Previous cast members have included Olivier Award winner LeAnne Jones (Hairspray), comedienne Tara Flynn (Stewart Lee's Comedy Vehicle, The Impressions Show), and Fascinating Aida's Liza Pulman. The fully-staged 2013 production will star a number of industry names new to the show as well as some original cast members. Full casting details will be announced soon.
At the Hackney Empire Molly Wobbly's Tit Factory's creative team - musical director Matthew Reeve, choreographer Sarah Johnston, and director Paul Boyd - will be joined by set designer Diego Pitarch (Sunset Boulevard, Spend Spend Spend, Twentieth Century Boy), lighting designer John Riddell (Hurricane), and costume supervisor Kingsley Hall (Matilda). The show's animation sequences will be created by BAFTA nominated production studio Blacknorth.
Molly Wobbly's Tit Factory has developed a strong and fanatical following; news that the 2013 production will feature three new musical numbers has already caused a flurry of activity on the show's Twitter feed (@MollyWobbly) and Facebook page.
